  1. I shall observe the Tenets of Taekwondo and the Ethical Rules of Taekwondo.
  2. I shall respect instructors and senior belt ranks.
  3. I shall never misuse Taekwondo.
  4. I will be a champion of freedom and justice.
  5. I will build a more peaceful world. 

Tenets of Taekwondo

Courtesy

Being thoughtful and considerate of others. Courtesy and respect should be extended to all students in general and higher belts in particular, as well as any citizen.

Integrity

The uncompromising adherence to a code of moral values and principles. It requires soundness of ethical strength. Honesty is one of the most valued traits of integrity one can possess.

Perseverance

The steadfast pursuit of one's goals. It is the quality of never giving up in the face of a challenge. The difference between success and failure is success never gives up, but failure always does.

Self-Control

The restraint of one's emotions and reactions. One should never lose his/her temper. Control comes from within rather than from outside forces.

Indomidable Spirit

The spirit which enables one to face danger with self-possession, confidence and resolution. A courageous person will not tolerate injustice.


Ethical Rules of Taekwondo

  1. Loyalty to nation.
  2. Obedience to parents.
  3. Confidence in friends.
  4. Never attack without reason.
  5. Refrain from the senseless killing of all living things.

Rules of the Dojang*

New T-shirt Policy: T-Shirts can be worn in class from May through September only. From October to April, the Full Uniform must be worn. Acceptable t-shirts are the School T-Shirt with name or Logo on it.
  1. Students will acknowledge entering and leaving the mats by bowing to the flags.
  2. Students will wear a clean uniform or school T-shirt to class.
  3. Students will avoid the use of profanity in the dojang.
  4. Please knock and wait instructions before entering the school office (wait, come in, etc).
  5. Students will not horseplay inside the dojang.
  6. When waiting for class, please sit quietly in the back of the classroom or in the chairs.  Do not hit the heavy bags or jump rope out of respect of the other class.
  7. Students should answer with a loud "Yes Sir" or "Yes Ma'am" when speaking with a black belt.
  8. Line up by belt ranks with senior belts in the front and junior belts in the back.
  9. No shoes on the mats unless they are Taekwondo shoes.
  10. Treat your fellow classmates with respect.

* Failure to follow these rules could result in a reduction in belt rank.
