Mom and Dad: Do you want your son or daughter to learn strong character development through the Leadership program at American Family Martial Arts?

G.O.L.D. Team!
(Guidance On Leadership Development)

This leadership program will provide the necessary building blocks for success. You will not need to add another class day to accomplish this. All it will require is to extend your experience while you are at the dojang.

The mission of American Family Martial Arts is to provide a family atmosphere to build our students in a positive manner.

Our school is about developing leaders for the future. The leadership program will provide a learning environment on how to set and attain goals. Everyone on the G.O.L.D. Team has set their goal for Black Belt!

The students who are enrolled in this program will be working on many different concepts about leadership and personal development. Did you know that from the time we are born to the time we are about six we hear the word “NO” approximately 140,000 times? Well, the reason is so our children won’t put a fork in the light socket, right? The flip side is that it sets our boundaries as to what we can and can’t do and for most of us no one ever really took the time to explain to us what we can accomplish. The sky truly is the limit.

The character development will be on a rotational theme based program. That means the members in the leadership program will see and go through the materials more than once in the process of earning their Black Belt.

Imagine you or your child being transformed into a highly motivated, confident person who sets out to reach high levels of success in all areas of their life!

Your child will be taught to begin something with the end in mind. In school if they begin the year wanting to make honor roll, imagine how much more motivated they would be to go to school and about doing homework with more energy! If your child goes to school and says “I want an A” and waits until the four weeks before report cards come out, the possibility is very slim to hit their goal.

The same applies to adults. Why is it we set our New Years resolutions just to stop working for them after the first 30 days in the New Year! If we are starting with the end in mind for an outcome we are more motivated to keep going each day to reach our goals even if we hit an obstacle.

Remember by coming to your regular class days you will still be able to learn all the benefits of the leadership team!

How will the leadership program work?

  1. After you take your regular class we will dismiss all non leadership and black belt club members. After the black belt portion of the class (the special gear) we will dismiss the black belt club. The next 15 minutes we will cover your leadership training.
  2. Each week we will cover a chapter of the particular book we are working on.
  3. There will be work sheets for each week to reinforce the lesson.
  4. We will do community projects to learn organization and giving back. What Taekwondo is all about anyway.

“You and the others there at the dojang have become a source of growth for me…challenging at times but that’s what growth is all about…challenging oneself to go deeper into oneself and discover that in which one was meant to be! Thanks for your continual acceptance and friendship! You are an awesome guy for reaching out to others in the way you do… Thank you for taking the time and energy to do so!”

“I knew the right decision in joining your school. Prior to Taekwondo, Zach had a problem remembering more than three things at a time. Now he is remembering over 20 different moves. Impressive to a dad!! This is a positive affect in his school work. I can’t express the gratitude and respect my wife and I have for you, your staff, and your school.

He knows he will be a black belt in the future and is looking forward to the challenges and discipline that comes with it. It’s an honor to be part of something that has a positive effect on today’s families. There is so much more I could say but I know you have plenty to do. So thanks to everyone for everything.”

“Her self confidence has also improved greatly. She is the youngest on the team, and really looks up to the older kids as role models.”

Brandy Lee - Mom

“As a parent, I enjoyed having Graeme attend leadership class. I think it provided him with skills the regular classes just don’t have time for, and understandably so. Leadership class gave students the whole picture of Taekwondo. The students also received one-on-one time with leaders of the classes.

Leadership class provided the students with mental challenges each week. They had to come prepared; they had homework and even prepare lesson plans. My son found these tasks to be fun challenges. He reminded me that even though these challenges made him nervous, he still enjoyed being challenged.

I think the leadership class provided a unique experience for those asked to attend. They got to see their teachers, masters, leaders in a new light. They could learn personally what it is really like to lead. Classes now become a full experience, from seeing things just a little from the Master’s perspective”

Carrie Schulz, mother of Graeme Schulz

“The students don’t just learn Taekwondo. Master Dave uses these sessions to teach self control, focus, perseverance and integrity, as well as, to build self esteem. They are expected to utilize these tenants in the classroom and at home and are asked questions pertaining to them during their belt testing.

Master Dave has some of the other students here at West as students at his dojang and teaches the same quality program there. Those students do not earn their new belts unless their teacher signs a form stating they have good behavior and good grades. His students are expected to conduct themselves as good citizens in all locations."

Karen Gross

“I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how pleased we are with your programs. Our son Travis is a member of your black belt program and he loves the time he spends at American Family Martial Arts. As parents, we are also excited to see the personal growth Travis has experienced while participating in Taekwondo. His grades have improved to honor roll levels, his confidence has increased, and his self control and discipline at home is very good. While we have always raised Travis to be a good person and to respect others, we truly believe that part of his success is due to the principles you are teaching your students. No matter what mood he is in before class, he is always in a great mood when he leaves. Travis also works with his 8 year old sister Sydney at home. You may have a new student on the way.

Thanks for showing a sincere interest in our son. Have a great day.”
